Hi, I'm Kelsey. I am a long term volunteer of EmpoweRanch. I completed my recreational therapy internship through ASU with EmpoweRanch so it does hold a special place in my heart. I love Jessi and everything her organization stands for.

EmpoweRanch is a nonprofit organization created by an ASU alumni named Jessica Voss, who wants to be able to provide her programs to everyone in the community and make them as inclusive as possible for all. Programs ranging from animal assisted therapy, horticultural therapy using gardening and outdoor therapy, empowerment groups, day camps, and more.

Recently, EmpoweRanch moved locations and is now located in Laveen. The farm needs some work, a lot of work. As a non-profit organization that is still finding its place in the new Covid world, they need funding. The funding benefits the entire community. The programs are made available to the community at affordable rates, which still has Jessi pinching pennies so let’s do what we can to help this mission succeed!

Anything is generous - a dollar is helpful. Imagine what the ranch could be with your help. Every cent is worth the skills and experiences the ranch can provide those with disabilities, mental health, low income, and those who need support, for pure recreational leisure.

Below is the inventory of the first activity to be held through the new SOAR program, as well as two facilities that would make a HUGE difference to the services provided to the community. This is just a starting point but if we can accomplish these goals, you have no idea the positive impact you’re making by contributing to this fund.

Items needed for restoration and activities

Gardening for SOAR:

Soil x 20-30 large bags

Gardening hand-tools (trowels, hoes, shovels, loppers, pruning shears, cultivators, etc.) x 2-3 per item for students to use

Watering cans x 2

Seeds and seedlings (vegetables and fruit)

Gloves x 5 adult and 5 child size

Wheelbarrow x 1

Storage Unit for Therapy Equipment:

Materials range from $5 to $100 per square foot. Wood tends to be more expensive but easier to work with for adults and volunteers, ranging in all ages. Currently, wood ranges between $20-100 sq. ft.
