Emily's Smile Boxes

Never in the almost 12 years of running a non-profit organization would I have thought we would have to sue or raise money to sue anyone. We are asking for donations because we are put in a very tough spot right now. Emily's Smile boxes is a small non-profit that makes boxes full of activities and toys for patients and their siblings. Our annual large fundraiser is a Casino Night and takes a lot of donors, volunteers, money, and time.

 

In 2019 we were planning our large event when COVID-19 hit we had to postpone the event due to the statewide COVID-19 mandate. We were working with the Holiday Inn within Trophy Club Texas. We have since tried to reach the Holiday Inn emailing multiple times and hearing absolutely nothing in return from emails, phone calls, and lawyers being involved we are perplexed at what to do.

 

I think this is something we should fight for. For a non-profit as small as ours $2,500 is too much to lose especially when it comes to kids in the hospital. We are kindly asking for donations in order to cover expenses to sue the Holiday Inn. We have significant evidence but we need your help in order to receive our money back.

 

We hope to make kids smile once again with donations and planning our fundraiser at a different location that will be more respectful towards our donors money and funds. Anything used above the necessary legal fees will be utilized towards the Casino Night thank you in advance.

Emily's Smile Boxes is a non profit organization I started when I was ten years old because my brother had a stroke before he was born. This caused massive brain bleeding and many trips to the hospital and emergency room. I then realized how many other siblings were in my position and decided I wanted to give kids something to do. I now make boxes full of toys including puzzles, card games, stickers, and many other fun things with friends, family, and volunteers. We have passed out over 17,000 boxes world wide. 

This Go Fund Me is for Christmas angels that Emily's Smile Boxes participates in every year through the Salvation Army. We also want to plan for a box making party soon and depending on how much we raise we can increase the amount of boxes we make for around Febuary. Box making parties is a great way for the community to get involved and children to help make boxes for kids in the hospital. These funds will help us fill the boxes and host the event. We make these events fun by getting face paint artists, music, and other attractions. We need these funds near the beginning of December to make sure the angels get their gifts.
