India - Let's fight back Corona virus

India’s 1.3 billion citizens are now under 21-day Corona virus lock-down since 25 March 2020. The fear and panic of virus has gripped our beloved country. We need to come together and help our beloved country and provide strength to those who are running into hunger because of lock-down.

 "I earn 600 rupees ($8; £6.50) every day and I have five people to feed. We will run out of food in a few days. I know the risk of corona virus, but I can't see my children hungry," – Labor from Banda district UP State.

Kishan Lal, who works as rickshaw puller in the northern city of Allahabad, said he had not made any money in the past four days.

His friend Ali Hasan, who works as a cleaner in a shop, said he had run out of money to buy food. "The shop shut down two days ago and I haven't been paid. I don't know when it will open. I am very scared. I have a family, how am I going to feed them?"

 A cleaner who is not aware about Corona says, "polishing people's shoes at the railway station in Allahabad for years, but nobody is showing up now".

 Like Ali Hasan and Kishan Lal millions of other daily wage earners are in similar situation.

ESCO a US based non-profit is working with teams across different parts of India to provide food packets and help our country in this difficult situation.

We have teams on the ground to execute and help the country right now. People need food right now. It's today and while we are collecting funds our volunteers are already on the field delivering food packets.

ESCO is raising funds to rebuild Delhi aftermath of violence which resulted in several people died and 100's injured.
People's homes were burnt, businesses were vandalized and people are left homeless with nothing left.
This fund raiser is to rebuild and provide the much needed assistance.

Immediate response is being provided by several organizations on the ground in the form of relief kits. ESCO wants to fill in on the rehabilitation and support projects that are listed below:

1. Rebuild / renovate damaged homes – US $ 2000 * 20 homes = $20,000/-
2. Self-employment / business shops – US $1000 * 15 = $15,000/-
3. Healthcare support to injured – US $1000 * 5 = $5,000/-
4. Adopt an orphan or support widow – US $1000 * 10 = $10,000
These projects require a total of US $ 50,000/-

Kerala is facing the worst flood in 100 years with the continuous rains and with the shutters of 35 out of 39 dams having to be opened to release water. Many have lost their homes, their fields, their stores and every thing they have at home. Death toll has crossed 400 and 13.5 lakh people  have been displaced since August 8 and are in some 4000 relief camps across Kerala. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) officials said on Friday evening, adding that 2,600 villages have been flooded. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and more than 10,000 km of roads damaged across the state. The estimated loss across the state is INR 50,000 crores.

Let us support the affected people by contributing generously to relief efforts in solidarity from the DFW Area. The 100% of funds collected will be used for rehabilitation and getting people back on their feet over the coming weeks for the targeted affected families by working closely with local groups and  collaborating  with ESCO.
