Get ECERT to the NCEMSF Conference
Eckerd College Emergency Response Team (EC-ERT) is a volunteer collegiate Emergency Medical Services organization that is dedicated to providing emergency assistance to the Eckerd College community. By providing highly trained student EMT volunteers, EC-ERT aims to provide relief and medical assistance during emergency incidents and large-scale disasters, while intending to ensure health and safety of the community during large planned events and every day campus life.
In order to maintain a high volume of professionally trained student responders, EC-ERT provides frequent, high quality, training for their student volunteers. Part of this training involves attending a national conference called the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) Conference. This event is an incredible opportunity for EC-ERT to learn about new medical techniques, network with other collegiate EMS teams, and improve our response capacity and structure. This year’s annual conference will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 26-28.
Last year (2015) was our team’s first year in attendance, and we were only able to take six of our members. This year, we aim to offer this opportunity to as many members as possible. Unfortunately, our budget is limited and it will be very difficult to take the full team, despite fundraising. We have applied for a grant from the Eckerd College Organization of Students (ECOS) for funds, as well as conducting independent fundraisers such as hosting a Halloween Moulage Makeup event and a Late Night Breakfast.
We still have a lot of funds to raise to be able to attend this conference. We are a volunteer team with limited outside funding and team members cover many expenses including their medical certifications, which can cost thousands of dollars. The budget below details our expenses:
Conference fee: $1,710
Hotel: $2,021.25
Van: $1,151.92
Gas: $550
Food: $1,800
Grand Total: $7,233.17
Every single member of EC-ERT works hard to make Eckerd College a safer place. Our members graciously dedicate 8-20 hours a week to help this community. Now we’re asking you to help us.
Contributions to this campaign are considered charitable gifts to Eckerd College (EIN 59-0859121) and may be deductible for federal income tax purposes.
