Echo Ranch is a 72-acre rescue horse farm and therapy nonprofit that has quietly changed lives for over 14 years - offering lifelong sanctuary to abused and neglected horses as well as a place of healing for people.
Now, the land they steward is at risk of being lost forever.
The church that owns the property has decided to sell and has offered Echo Ranch first right of refusal.
To secure the land permanently, Echo Ranch must raise $4.5 million in just 120 days.
If they cannot, the land will almost certainly be sold and developed - just like much of the surrounding farmland that has already been converted into housing and apartment complexes over the years.
Once that happens, Echo Ranch cannot be recreated.
What Echo Ranch Is — and Why It Matters
Echo Ranch is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides a safe, peaceful environment where healing can begin - for both horses and people.
The ranch is home to rescue horses who survived neglect, abuse, and abandonment. These animals are not rehabilitated and rehomed - they are given the opportunity to live out the rest of their lives receiving consistent care, safety, and dignity.
At the same time, Echo Ranch serves people facing trauma, addiction recovery, grief, mental health struggles, and deep life transitions. Guests engage in gentle, non-clinical healing through mentorship and connection with the horses whether through grooming, riding, liberty work, or simply being present with these intuitive animals.
Programs are offered free of charge so that cost is never a barrier to healing.
This work is made possible entirely through donations, small fundraisers, and an extraordinary volunteer community of nearly 70 volunteers.
Why This Land Is Irreplaceable
Echo Ranch isn’t just a program, it’s a place.
- The quiet, open land.
- The established barns and pastures.
- The safe, familiar environment the horses rely on.
If this land is sold, it will almost certainly be developed, as nearby farmland has been over the years. That would mean:
The permanent loss of a sanctuary for rescued horses
Displacement of animals who cannot simply be moved
The end of a proven healing space for people in need
There is no comparable property waiting. No easy relocation. No way to rebuild what has taken more than a decade to grow.
The People Behind the Ranch
Echo Ranch was founded and is led by Dorine and Jake, who have devoted their lives to this mission.
They live on the ranch, providing daily care, oversight, and protection for the horses and programs. Echo Ranch isn’t something they commute to, it’s their home and their life’s work.
The ranch is entirely volunteer-run, including Jake and Dorine themselves. They took early retirement from paid careers to serve full time and live modestly so this work can continue.
Echo Ranch exists not because it is easy or profitable, but because it is deeply needed.

If Echo Ranch can raise the funds to purchase the land, the sanctuary will be protected permanently, ensuring that rescued horses always have a safe home and that future generations of people can continue to find healing here.
