Help FRC Team 6897 Get to District Championships
Astraea Robotics, also known as Team 6897, is a FIRST Robotics Competition team in East Brunswick, New Jersey. We are a student-run team of high school students from East Brunswick High School. For the first time in team history, Team 6897 has qualified for the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Championships, a lasting accomplishment for our team. At Astraea Robotics, we believe that together, we can build something amazing, which is why we need your support in fundraising for the District Championships.
This past summer, our team's main driving force, Mrs. Leslie C. Anderson, passed away. She was our primary supervisor for meetings, and without her support in the school, we weren't able to hold meetings in EBHS. Since we couldn't meet in the school, the team pivoted to a new meeting place - a team member's basement. Despite all of the hardships we've faced as a team, we've worked hard to build a robot for the Charged Up season. Each member of our team has worked incredibly hard to make this year's robot a reality, meeting over 20 hours per week, and we are so proud of everyone on the team and all of their hard work!! After many long months of debugging, troubleshooting, and testing, we are proud to present Snoopy (named in loving memory of Mrs. Anderson)!!
This season, we have performed better than ever before; we've won the Innovation in Control, and Team Spirit Awards and we have advanced to the semi-finals at both of our competitions! We were alliance captains during the 2023 Robbinsville District Event for the first time in team history. This has been a record year for us in terms of performance, and we need your help to pay the registration fee for the District Championships, held at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, from April 5th until April 8th. Support, no matter how small, from those who support our mission or would like to see us continue to succeed would be greatly appreciated.
Aside from competitions, Astraea Robotics hosts and attends various outreach events to spread STEM to our local community. Each year, we visit our town’s fair, EB Day, and our county’s fair, Middlesex County Fair, where we give an interactive demonstration of our yearly robot and introduce individuals of all ages to the STEM community. In addition, we visit a local Montessori preschool, where we host a mini-STEM week, using interactive STEM kits to teach the students basic STEM skills.
All donations are processed through the nonprofit organization East Brunswick First Inc. In this organization, Astraea Robotics is listed as its primary program. If Astraea Robotics exceeds its fundraising goal for District Championships, all additional donations will go towards funding the upkeep of Astraea Robotics for our future seasons.
