Don’t MiND Me: Rebuild Mental Health from the Ground Up
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to not just raise awareness, but to take action. At Don’t MiND Me , we’re doing both. We’re not only sharing stories and shining a light on the mental health crisis, we’re building a long-term solution.
We're fundraising to launch the Mental Health Recovery of Palm Springs (MHRPS): a unique, community-integrated recovery campus that will provide affordable, holistic, and long-term care for individuals living with mental illness and substance use disorders. Our goal is bold: to transform the historic Desert Sun building in Palm Springs into a hub of healing and recovery, combining crisis stabilization, residential and outpatient treatment, counseling, life skills, and a lifelong community of support.
But this campaign is about more than brick and mortar. It’s about the mission behind the building.
Don’t MiND Me is our family founded nonprofit, inspired by 15 years of trying to help our loved-one navigate a fractured mental health care system. Our family member faced denied insurance claims, short-term stays that led nowhere, and a lack of resources that made true recovery impossible. Our story is heartbreakingly common, and that’s why we’re building something different.

With your support, we’re not only bringing the Palm Springs campus to life, we’re growing a nonprofit that’s committed to systemic change.
Your donation will help us:
- Secure and develop the MHRPS campus: a dignified space designed to holistically treat mental health and addiction side by side
- Fund scholarships for underinsured and uninsured individuals through our Crisis Intervention Scholarship Fund
- Support Don’t MiND Me’s programs and advocacy work, including outreach, education, and peer support
- End the cycle of crisis, hospitalization, and incarceration with integrated, long-term care options
We’ve already assembled an expert team and we’re backed by overwhelming letters of support from the likes of Riverside County Behavioral Health, the Palm Springs Police Department, and national partners like the American Psychiatric Association and Dr. Chris Speller (Department of Defense). This project has the passion and the plan. Now, it just needs the funding.
Here’s how you can help:
Donate – Every dollar brings us one step closer to opening our doors.
Share – Help us spread the word. Awareness creates momentum.
Follow – Stay involved on social media (@dontmindme) for updates, milestones, and mental health facts throughout May and beyond...
This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s move beyond conversations. Let’s build something lasting.
Together, we can create a home for healing and a future where recovery is possible for everyone!
