Brain Injured Julieta Has a Chance at Rehab.
Lovely Julieta was born in December 2016 in Cartagena, Colombia.
She suffered from Hypoxia at birth, which is basically lack of oxygen to her brain, from which she developed a brain injury. She has now been diagnosed with CEREBRAL PALSY .
Now that she is 2.5 years old, the symptoms are very clear. Difficulty with movement and coordination of hands and feet. Unable to sit up on her own, crawl or walk. Difficulty eating, chewing and swallowing her food. Difficulty modulating sounds with her voice.
She is undergoing treatment at Doman International Institute , which includes physical therapy, speech and language, occupational therapy, and cognitive therapy.
We are doing everything we can to get her the best medical attention and treatment. We wish to give her the best chance at her recovery, however, mom is now dedicated 100% of the time to her care and dad has taken over 100% of the family costs. This has proven to be a big challenge in the last couple of years, even though the family and close friends have been overly generous and helpful. We are now deep in debt, and we fear Julieta´s treatment could be in jeopardy if we do not act now.
Our goal is to raise enough money to guarantee Julieta´s medical treatment continues without interruption for the next 5 years, which the doctors say are critical for her brain development, and have the best chance at recovery.
We want to give her the chance, like every other child her age, to grow up and develop into an intelligent, independent adult. its what every parent wants for their children. This is what we strive for, what we live for, and in order to achieve this goal, the reason we reach out to you.
