Want to join us in making a difference for this cause that means so much to us? We are raising money to benefit Djoniba Dance and Drum Centre (DDDC), a black owned dance school, dedicated to bring people from all walks of life and races together and committed to provide FREE dance classes for underserved children through its scholarship fund.
Hit by the Covid 19 pandemic, DDDC was forced to close its doors, losing all its revenue and we will not be able to generate much revenue anytime soon, because of a second wave and the fact that to apply safe social distancing guidelines, classes will be limited to very few students. The survival of our home is in danger altogether. DDDC’s black, latino and white teachers and musicians are out of work. The physical and mental health our adults and children classes provide to hundreds has vanished.
You have the power to help Djoniba Centre continue its mission.
HERE’S HOW WE WILL PUT YOUR GENEROUS DONATION TO WORK:
1. NOW: Build a robust online dance school website of virtual dance classes.
To achieve that goal We need to:
- Hire a website developer qualified to code and build a heavy video content platform.
- Rent a dedicated server to store hundreds of hours of dance class video content;
- Hire a camera crew, a space for filming, video editors, dance teachers etc...
- Hire an advertising staff to Promote and advertise the website
2. AFTER THE PANDEMIC: Re-Build our dance studio
- Rent a New space, construction, advertising, hiring of staff teachers etc..
As a donor, you will receive an invitation to our online school launch and a free invite to a virtual Zoom class.
Note: If you also happen to have connections to anyone that would be wiling to contribute any of the above services on a pro-bono basis, we would greatly appreciate it!

Founded by Djoniba Mouflet, in 1992, Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre (“DDDC”), was the first black-owned Nonprofit cultural organization in the U.S, devoted to the promotion and advancement of African and Pan-African dance, music and culture. DDDC mission has been from the start to fostering community through dance amongst people from all walks of life and of all races, where adults and children students meet, Honor, respect and appreciate each other and become friends for life. DDDC has also been committed to providing FREE dance classes for underserved children around New York City through its youth scholarship fund and children program the Djoniba Dance & Drum Kids. In the past 25 years, DDDC has awarded scholarships to more than 2,500 children from under-served families. The program teaches young minority students that they can apply the discipline, focus and hard work of learning to dance, to achieve success in math, science and academic education. At the same time, they learn to be proud of who they are and to live in harmony with the wider world, as they meet people from all races at the Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre.
