Help Us Raise Funds For a STEM Summer Camp
At DIY Girls, we inspire and empower girls to envision themselves as engineers and gain the confidence to become the architects of their own lives.
This summer, we’ll be providing a virtual summer camp to teach rising 6th to 9th-grade girls how to use TinkerCad (a free, web-based 3D modeling program) to create their own 3D succulent planters! We would greatly appreciate your support as we fundraise to provide our Virtual 3D Design & Printing Camp for 24 girls from July 11th to July 22nd. Please help us reach our $10,213 fundraising goal and donate today. Through hands-on activities, guest speakers, an in-person field trip, and interactive sessions with program coordinators and campmates, the girls will learn about design principles, 3D modeling, and agricultural sustainability. They will also gain important skills in working and communicating as a team.
We are excited to partner with Suffolk Construction who will be hosting an in-person field trip for our girls at their downtown office. We will also feature a virtual panel of extraordinary women engineers from SoCal Gas, who will share the various opportunities available to women in engineering. Lastly, we will have a succulent enthusiast lead a How to Care for Your Succulent session where our girls will learn about the many benefits of these very unique plants.
Your donation will go toward the costs of our summer camp, including the bus rental fee for an in-person field trip, supplies, and a "Summer Kit" for each participant which includes materials for hands-on activities, snacks, and a DIY Girls t-shirt. We will also 3D print every student's succulent planter and provide them with a small succulent to plant.
Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our mission to provide STEAM programs for girls in new and innovative ways. STEM-based solutions have actively played a critical role in addressing global challenges-from cures and prevention, to sustainability, and climate change. We cannot afford to leave talent on the sidelines due to the lack of opportunities. Please donate today and invest in a future where more women of color are part of the STEM workforce and possess the skills needed to become future industry leaders and problem solvers.
Sincerely,
The DIY Girls Team and Students
