David T. Howard Academic Bowl Team to Nationals!
Howard’s Academic Bowl Team is going to the
2023 Middle School National Championship Tournament!
We are so proud to announce that both Teams A & B are going to compete at the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT) Championship this year. The kids and coaches have worked very hard to get this far and continue to practice and learn new material to get ready for the National Championship.
Now we need your support to continue their academic journey to Nationals. The 2023 Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT) will be held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago in Rosemont, Illinois (near Chicago), on May 12–14, 2023.
Our academic bowl team currently needs to raise approximately $3,500 for travel expenses for our upcoming National competition in Chicago, Illinois. Community support from sponsors and friends is vital to our success.
While our parents contribute a great deal to offset travel expenses to every event, some families cannot afford to contribute. We are committed to making competition travel affordable for all students, regardless of family income. To keep that commitment, we must raise funds to reduce the cost per family and provide scholarships. Your tax-deductible donation in any amount will help us reach our fundraising goal for the 2023 National Championship. You can help the team and your favorite Howard Academic Bowl student by contributing before the deadline of May 5, 2023.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with quiz bowl, it is an academic competition where teams answer questions in a variety of subject areas (i.e. American literature, US history, mythology, physical science, geography, fine arts, mathematics, etc) that delve deeply into high school and college curriculum but also go beyond the bounds of what is normally taught in school. Students frequently have to supplement what they already know by studying content areas and practicing multiple times a week to succeed in such competitions.
Howard’s Academic Bowl teams have had a successful season at the PAGE State Championship and various competitions around metro Atlanta. The team has grown and gotten better over the last year. We are very excited about the opportunities and further challenges this adventure to the National Championships will provide. With your support, the 30 students of Howard’s Academic Bowl team will grow as lifelong learners and leaders.
