Orphan & Needy Students of Quran (Zakaat 2024)
No child should be deprived of Islamic Knowledge to become a hafiz (memorizer of the Holy Quran or 'Alim (Islamic Scholar).
We currently have 102 students out of 447 students who are eligible for Zakaat. Darul Uloom New York is seeking your financial support for these students of knowledge who have are engaged in the recitation of Quran and Hadith becoming scholars and huffaz in New York City. We provide not only education but dormitory, food, transportation, and other needs for our orphaned and needy students.
Our Goal:
Our children and our communities need balanced scholars who are not only equipped with the traditional sciences of Islamic knowledge but also can connect us all to that sacred knowledge while facing modern challenges.
Our History:
Darul Uloom NewYork is an Islamic school for boys and girls, offering an academically challenging curriculum to produce Huffaz and 'Ulamaa(Scholars). Darul Uloom New York was founded in 1997 and has since graduated hundreds of Huffaz and Scholars serving throughout the United States. Its purpose was to establish an institute in which our children could be educated with true Islamic values in a humble Islamic environment.

That is why we are seeking your support to cover the cost of their tuition for the current Academic year.
Current Student Stories:
- Two sisters, ages 11 and 13, who live with their mother in a shelter in Queens, NY come on weekdays to Darul Uloom NY to study to become 'Alimah (Female Scholars). Once classes end, they return to the shelter to be with their mother who is still looking for a job.
- A 10 year old boy who is studying to become a hafiz is the oldest among his siblings, who are 8 and 5 years old. Their father passed away due to covid, but their mother wants all of them to become hafiz as was the desire of their late father. The mother is currently unemployed and looking for work while doing odd jobs to survive.
- A couple who recently came from overseas has to live apart while they search for work. The father lives with his son, who is studying to become a hafiz at Darul Uloom New York, while the mother lives in another state with her brother and sister-in-law.
These are just three stories from a list of 102 students that are among the orphan or needy seeking your financial support during these difficult times.
