CARE PACKAGES FOR BREAST CANCER PATIENTS
I am Akwi Anjoh – Founder, DTLWA
In 2018 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. After a year of gruelling chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation treatment I went into remission. Throughout this process I was grateful for the fact that had access to a functional healthcare system which catered for all my needs. This left me thinking of all the women around the world especially in developing countries and in my home country of Cameroon, without access to basic health care. This led me to found Dare to Live with Anjoh Charity DTLWA a non-profit with the following mission:
- To create awareness on breast cancer among women, especially young women;
- To provide free services and resources to breast cancer patients and survivors especially the economically disadvantaged;
- To advocate for the improvement of primary health care and medical services for breast cancer patients in developing countries.
- To provide hope to patients and survivors of breast cancer.
Since our founding, we have organised successful advocacy events for breast cancer both in Charlotte NC and various cities in Cameroon. We have also provided care packages and financial support to breast cancer patients in Cameroon, who have no access to basic pain medication, nausea medication, or financial ability to pay for costly chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Our work amongst women fighting breast cancer has shown that a little goes far.
In preparation for breast cancer awareness month in October 2021, DTLWA is once again organising a drive to provide care packages to breast cancer patients in Cameroon. Our goal is to provide at least 250 care packages with a value of $50 each. Our care packages will include but not be limited to:
1. Nausea Medication
2. OTC Pain Medications
3. Hope Journal and Pen
4. Lip Balms
5. Educational Brochures on Breast Cancer care
6. Water Bottle
7. Inspirational Bracelet
8. Support cash of CFA10,000.00
Our goal is to raise $12,500 (Twelve thousand five hundred dollars) and for this we will be counting on your good will to support us put a smile on the faces of 250 women bravely fighting breast cancer. We remain thankful for your support of this noble initiative.
