About Dallas Art Therapy
Dallas Art Therapy is a wholesome nonprofit that gives back to the community by providing free therapy sessions for veterans in north Texa sthrough art! Their licensed therapists have created a supportive environment to express emotions and manage stress.
Why Give?
Every day, veterans carry the heavy weight of mental struggles alone. Depression and PTSD present harsh challenges, while some even battle homelessness. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 15% of veterans experience PTSD and mental health concerns in a given year (VA, 2023)
Testimony
During my time in the U.S. Army, I've seen many people focus too much on the mission rather than speak openly about their daily mental health struggles. I knew a friend who talked to a counselor about alternatives to routine and inconsistent group therapy. The counselor recommended that he use art as therapy. Using art, he was able to begin a healing journey as he illustrated his thoughts and feelings on a canvas.
