Worcester County Child Advocacy Center

The CRICKET Center Foundation was created to provide financial support in order to fufill the mission of providing hope and healing to child victims of abuse in Worcester County. In 2019, 14% of Worcester County children ages 0-18 were referred to The CRICKET Center for physical and sexual abuse as well as neglect. 

In the State of Maryland, it is required to investigate child abuse via a multi-disciplinary team and every county is required to have a child advocacy center. This is a non-funded mandate which means The CRICKET Center is forced to apply for competitive grant funding for its program.

Each year, the CRICKET Center depends on four large fundraisers, raising an average of about $95,000. Due to COVID-19, no fundraisers were able to be held this year. Although The CRICKET Center applies for grants each year and receives some funding from the County and municipalities, this does not provide the needed funding to sustain the program on its own. The CRICKET Center depends on our generous community to make up the difference.
