Myslef, Joe and Sophie have taken on the challenge of this years Bath half marathon which is being held in March. Training (mostly in the rain!) is in full swing.

Alongside our running efforts we'd also like to do some fundraising efforts in Memory of Jack Tomlinson (Joes brother) who sadly passed away last year. Jack spent his last few months being cared for at Mount Edgcumbe hospice, Mount Edgcumbe is part of Cornwall hospice care.

Cornwall Hospice Care is an amazing charity that has touched and supported many of us here in Cornwall. It provides compassionate, specialised end-of-life care to patients, their families, and carers when they need it most. With only 17% of their funding coming from Cornwall’s NHS Commissioners, the rest comes from the generosity of the local community—and kind people like you. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a massive difference in ensuring they can continue their vital work.

Throughout February, we will be running a fundraising event supporting St Julia's Hospital - selected by our charity winner Sam Stevens.

We'd love as many people as possible to join in and support the course if they can. Steps can be easily tracked using your smart watches or mobile phones (the Health app on iPhone automatically records your steps). If anyone is unsure on how to track their steps, I'm more than happy to help set this up for you!

Simply send over a screenshot of your weekly step count to be added to the leaderboard with weekly updates sent out so you know your competition.

My long term partner Richard was diagnosed with lung cancer and given 2/3 months to live. Shock ! He was treated with chemotherapy and

immunotherapy immediately. He went on to survive another 18 months full of ups and downs. Sadly he died in December 2024. He spent his last 2 weeks of life at St Julia’s hospice. What a remarkable place for both him and our families to spend time with him together. It’s been a tough couple of years but cycling to help raise money for this incredible charity is helping me cope massively. Thanks to Sir Chris Hoy for organising the ‘Tour De 4’ charity bike ride.

My neighbour and his son are cycling with me as they have both gone through a similar story. It’s so much more fun with 3 of us. The weather is on our side and I’m hoping for the same when we get to Scotland on September 7th. Thankyou for your support, no matter how small.

My name is Peter Davey, and I am taking part in the Chris Hoy Charity Tour De 4 on Sunday 7th of September in Glasgow, with my son Ben, and my friend Lorna Murray. We will be doing the 57 mile/92km ride. The event is to raise awareness, that there is life after a cancer diagnosis.

I am doing the ride in memory of my partner Julie Finch, who sadly died on the 1st November 2024 from cancer. Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 30's and was treated with radiotherapy, which seemed to do the trick! Then, 8 years ago, the cancer returned, and in the following 2 years, she had a double mastectomy. She passed away at the start of November 2024, with an extremely rare form of lung cancer. She was in her early 70's and a fighter to the very end.

I have suffered with asthma for most of my life, and was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis a couple of years ago, which effects the function of your lungs, so a year ago, I decided to get myself an electric bike to help improve my fitness and all-round health. It has been a game changer for me, both physically and mentally.

The week before Christmas 2024, I was taken into hospital, with worrying symptoms that unfortunately sounded incredibly similar to my partner Julies'. It was an incredibly scary and emotional time, having just been through all the devastation of losing Jules, to then be in a similar situation myself, less the 2 months later.

It took some time, and many tests and scans later, my diagnosis came back. Mesothelioma Lung cancer, due to being exposed to asbestos at work many years ago.

So now I am starting my own cancer journey, and would like to raise awareness and funds for Cornwall Hospice care, a wonderful charity, close to my heart, that relies on the generosity of donations from the community.

My name is Ben Davey, and I am taking part in the Chris Hoy Charity Tour de 4 (57mile/92km bike ride) on Sunday the 7th September in Glasgow alongside my Dad Peter Davey and our friend Lorna Murray.

The Friday before Christmas 2024 my Dad called me to say he was struggling with his breathing, and that he needed an ambulance.

After getting him to hospital and having several tests and scans done straight away, the results lead to them finding a large amount of fluid on his lungs. During the week he was in hospital they took 4.5 litres of fluid off of his lungs. Thankfully, we managed to get him home within a week and got to celebrate the new year together having missed Christmas.

Throughout January, we were going back and forth to the hospital for further testing and scans to try and figure out what was the cause behind all of this. After a long time waiting, we got an answer we weren’t expecting. Mesothelioma Lung Cancer, which they believe was caused by asbestos which he had been exposed too years previously throughout his working life.

I am taking part in this charity race to support my Dad throughout his Cancer journey, he has always been there and supported me, as I will for him through everything that is to come from this illness. We also sadly lost my Dads partner Jules on the 1st of November 2024 to an aggressive form of lung cancer and we are both doing this in memory and to honour her.

Cornwall Hospice Care has always been a very important and big part of the community and to us personally for some of our family members we have also lost. It is an amazing charity that relies on the generosity of the public for donations to keep the hospice going.

Hi! We are Aubrey and Bellamí and we are raising money in aid of the charity, Cornwall Hospice. This is in the memory of Amber (aubrey’s mother and bellamí’s godmother) who fought stage 4 lung cancer and sadly passed away last year. Amber and her family received vital support throughout the most challenging moments they faced, at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice.

Aubrey and I know that things would have been very difficult without Mount Edgcumbe’s help.

Now we would like to help Cornwall Hospice by raising funds to support this incredible organisation who continue to provide outstanding care for other families.
