Consider the Lily
Hey everyone!
I want to tell you about an organization that the Lord has laid on my heart--Consider the Lily . As a means to raise awareness and financial support for this organization, I have committed to run the KC Half Marathon on October 21st for the girls at Consider the Lily.
Back in 2003/2004, I met a missionary family from the Philippines while they were on furlough in Lawrence, KS. I had the privilege of playing volleyball and becoming friends with two of their daughters. Since that time, I have been able to follow their family and their work through social media and newsletters.
A couple of years ago their oldest daughter, Josie, took a step of faith to open a home in the Philippines for girls who come from backgrounds of sexual abuse. The Lord has been working through Josie and her team in the lives of these precious girls to bring healing and redemption and freedom! Josie's heart for the Lord and her obedience to his calling are humbling and inspirational.
I would love for you to take a couple minutes to watch this video that talks about who they are and their mission for this home.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for Consider the Lily. This money will go toward their education, the needs of the home, and the furthering of their mission. You could give $1, $10, or $100 per mile that I will be running (13.1 miles!); you could give $13.1 per month until the race; or you could give whatever amount you feel led to give. My hope is that you will be encouraged by the story of Consider the Lily and maybe even consider stepping out of your comfort zone to try something that you didn't think you could do--such as running 13.1 miles.
If you do not feel led to give financially, then I would ask that you consider committing to pray for Josie, her girls, the whole Consider the Lily team, and myself as I train. Pray for redemption and freedom for the girls. Pray for wisdom and peace for Josie. Pray for vision and guidance for the team. Pray for strength and health for me. Above all else, my hope is that God would be glorified through this whole process!
