Completely Kids

For my 50th birthday, I want only one thing and that is to help feed our local kids. It truly bothers me that many kids come to school hungry and that school provided meals may be the only meals they get for the day.

So what do these kids do on the weekend for food? Luckily, Omaha has the Completely KIDS Weekend Food Program.

The Weekend Food Program is a unique idea that addresses a very real problem in our community – child hunger. Completely KIDS recognizes that kids cannot learn when their stomachs are aching and they are worried about when their next meal will come. This means weekends are especially tough for many of the children in their program.

Through the Weekend Food Program, on Fridays, children receive bags filled with healthy, child-friendly food so they will have food through the weekend. 

Many of the children who receive Weekend Food come from families whose incomes are 200% below the poverty level. Their parents are considered working poor, which creates circumstances that produce hunger and child care issues.

Please help me help these kids have full bellies so they can learn, grow and just be kids who don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. 

My goal is to raise $1000. I am working directly with Completely KIDS to make this a reality; but to do so, I need YOUR help! Just $10 funds one child’s backpack for one weekend; $520 sponsors one child for an entire year.  If we raise $1000, we together can help feed some kids who would truly appreciate your help.

Pull-tab cans of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup
Pull-tab cans of Chef Boyardee or Hormel dinners
Easy Mac (individual size)
Minute Rice (brown rice, 2 packs)
Pull-tab, 8 oz. cans of Del Monte corn or green beans
Pull-tab cans of peaches, pears or fruit cocktail
Unsweetened applesauce (individual size)
Pudding snack cups (any brand)
Corn tortillas (any brand)
Juicy-Juice juice boxes

Individually wrapped:

o Granola bars (any kind) or Trail mix
o Beef sticks
o Cheese crackers

Stay for cake and music from my band, Bathtub Maria , plus The Ronnys and Domestica ! FREE!

Hello friends! Osvaldo and I will be running the Omaha Half Marathon on September 17th in honor of Cindy's Super KIDS, a special event held every year at  Completely KIDS, as a tribute to Cindy Leiferman (the greatest lady ever). Cindy was an advocate for children in the Omaha community and was passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for all kids.  Unfortunately, she passed away in 2013, but her legacy lives on at Completely KIDS and through out the Omaha community. 

I'm not just saying all of this because she's my mom, ask around, its true, she was the best. I am lucky to have had her as an example of how life should be lived and how you should care for others. So, we figured if we're going to run, we might as well run for a cause!
