Feeding Our Neighbors
OUR MISSION
It has been the mission of Community Service Associates, Inc. since 1988 to provide vital services to the Mt. Vernon Community with programs that nourish not only the physical needs, but also the social and psychological needs of the poor and disenfranchised.
OUR SERVICES
We are a not for profit, 501-C-3, multi-service family agency serving a nutritious dinner 4 nights per week, Tuesday – Friday to anyone in need with no eligibility criteria. Along with dinner, each guest receives a take home lunch. We provide thousands of meals and ancillary services yearly to those in need such as:
· Crisis Intervention - provides counseling, information, referrals, job training, clothing, an after school art program, and a women’s support group.
· Emergency Food Pantry – Supplies individuals with non-perishable emergency food items from our pantry.
· Volunteer Opportunities - Provides volunteer opportunities throughout Westchester County to schools, churches, businesses, clubs, and individuals. These opportunities range from preparing, providing and serving meals to food drives and fundraising.
· Make A Meal For One Night – Our volunteers love to contribute meals to our program, which helps us save on food costs.
· Mandated Community Service – We accept all individuals who have been mandated community service by the courts.
· Food Rescue – Businesses and households collectively throw away tonnes of food each year. We work with organizations like County Harvest and local businesses to reduce, reuse and recycle quality foods that will otherwise go to waste.
HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE SPENT
$10 will feed one person for one night
$40 will feed one person for one week
$160 will feed one person for one month
$1,920 will feed one person for an entire year!
We feed an average of 60 people per day with
two meals: Dinner and Lunch
We also have many operational costs such as supplies, rent, insurance, telephone/internet, and salaries that need funding in order for us to continue our mission.
