About Community Healthcare Ethics
Our mission: To bring healthcare ethics resources to post-acute care: skilled nursing, assisted living, home care, hospice and other locations outside of the acute care hospital. Why is this important? Advances in the medical field have increased the need to make difficult health care decisions. On top of this, the fast-paced health care system can feel overwhelming and fragmented as individuals move from place to place within it. Since 1992, hospitals have implemented bioethics committees and ethics resources to help patients, families, physicians, nurses and others who confront these issues. It is time for these to be available to individuals who receive care in locations other than hospitals.
