Save Red Star Food Pantry from Closure
Red Star Food Pantry has been serving the community of Cape Girardeau (and beyond) since the Flood of 1993.
As the community has grown since then, so has the need for resources for Red Star Food Pantry.
Red Star Food Pantry was able to serve 5,535 individual meals last month. Over the last year, the number of individuals and families served comes to over 66,000 meals. Based on the annual budget, that comes out to less than 50 cents per meal.
In addition to the food pantry schedule, Red Star Food Pantry also provides Senior Boxes and fresh produce to over 3,000 seniors each month. It's not just the food that Red Star volunteers provide, but also household items and hygiene items to over 400 families each year at the quarterly Yard Shares.
Red Star Food Pantry has poured their resources and time to serve individuals, families, and the community for the last thirty years, and now is the time that we could return the favor. We can make change happen with our small acts of kindness. By paying it forward, we can keep the doors open and continue the good of Red Star Food Pantry.
Red Star Food Pantry is heading towards a closure date of December 31st this year. If we can raise enough funds to prevent that from happening, we can give the opportunity to serve food and resources to another 66,000+ people for the next year, and years to come.
