Common Pantry

Food pantries across the nation have seen an unprecedented rise in customers over the past few weeks. In Chicago, Common Pantry reported over a 50% increase in new clients, as unemployment claims continue to soar with the COVID-19 outbreak and many individuals are experiencing food insecurity for the first time in their lives. Senator Sara Feigenholtz, Rep. Yoni Pizer, Rep. Ann Williams, and Ald. James Cappleman are raising money to benefit Common Pantry.  Any donation will help make an impact. Common Pantry was founded in 1967 to combat hunger and food insecurity in specific northern neighborhoods of Chicago. Common Pantry is dedicated to eliminating hunger in our community by providing access to food and by addressing the root causes of poverty.

Guaranteed Rate has been giving to the less fortunate for years and many more to come. The Guaranteed Rate Cuyler branch every November raises money to donate to the Common Pantry of Chicago to feed the less fortunate. Our goal this year is $3000. During this time of year it can be very hard for families to buy food for their loved ones, and we are looking to do our part in making their lives a little less stressful.

SKIN is proud to announce its first charity project collaborating with the Common Pantry. SKIN believes that great design is for everyone. Projekt SKIN  is a non-profit organization that transforms the existing spaces of other non-profits through design services and in-kind donations.

Our mission is to help the Common Pantry create a happy place that is full of generosity and compassion while redesigning their shopping area to accommodate more people, access to more food, and better organization. Statistics say one in six Chicagoans, more than 807,000 men, women and children, suffer from food insecurity. For the past 50 years, the Common Pantry has been dedicated to providing emergency food and social services on Chicago's northside, while addressing the root causes of food insecurity and poverty. In one year, the Common Pantry received 65,000 pounds of food that were donated by individual donors and food drives. What makes the Common Pantry special is how they utilize an award-winning client choice model that allows people to select items they receive through a “shopping experience.”
