Col.Potter Cairn Rescue Network

Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network  began as the result of ONE little Cairn boy (named Col. Potter) who was tragically killed. As donations in his honor began to come in from Cairn club members – so many wanted to help – the process began so that the organization was formed and became a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) in October 2001. Since that time, over 3,800 Cairns or mostly Cairn mixes have been rescued and brought into CPCRN (Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network). Many of the dogs that we have helped have been what is considered to be "non-regular" Cairn rescues. Those from puppy mills (the breeding dogs) and those who are purchased at auction. We also handle those with some health issues and the elderly. Several have had Heartworm and were treated for this. Some have had some behavioral issues, and are now great little pals in private homes.

We are 100% volunteer-based and rely on donations and fundraisers. Any donation is truly appreciated and will help our Cairns.

Raquel is a 12 year old sweet and gentle owner surrender Cairn who had not been to the vet in 10 years. She is in need of a major dental and also has a large lipoma approximately the size of a baseball that needs to be removed.

The lipoma is under and behind her right front leg and it swings out when she walks. If it continues to grow it will impede her walking and this little girl loves to go for walks.
Every time she goes out she goes right to the gate, hoping it’s time for  a long walk and not just yard time. She loves all the other dogs and people she meets on her walks, and has made it her mission to rid the park where we walk of squirrels.
Depending on the amount of time required to remove the lipoma the dental may have to be done in a separate procedures , with 2 recovery times before she is ready for adoption. 

 Raquel loves to be petted and rolls over for belly rubs, and gets along well with her 3 foster brothers. She is gentle with treats, and even bounds happily into the vet’s office with her tail wagging. Please help this princess get in shape for her Forever Home.

Fran is a sweet, happy little girl who came to Col. Potter with her younger brother after living in a situation of horrendous neglect. She is 12 years old, but had never been spayed, which often contributes, and in her case, has indeed contributed to health issues that may have been avoided with a spay earlier in life. Fran has five mammary tumors and an enlarged lymph node. To remove all of the tumors will require two surgeries. We are hoping that everything is benign, but will be waiting on the first set of biopsy results to decide whether to proceed with the second surgery and spay, as well as yet a third time under anesthesia to complete her dental
cleaning. Besides all of that, Fran is almost completely blind from untreated dry eye, and requires drops and ointments several times a day. She is receiving twice-weekly medicated baths and oral medications to combat an extensive skin infection, and has a lot of arthritis in
her legs. Despite all of this, she does a happy dance when she hears the leashes come out, because while she struggles on walks, she loves them. And because she can’t keep up with the boys, she gets her own private walk.
