We were lucky enough to initially raise $1,575 (of which we have about $300 remaining) to send representatives of the Turtle Conservation Group (a project of the Colorado Reptile Humane Society) to the Oklahoma Herpetological Society conference and the Conservation Federation of Missouri Convention. But our work doesn’t stop there…as race season quickly approaches, we have a lot more to do. We are reaching out to the community once again for support to help us continue this important work. We have made significant strides introducing educational programs to promote wildlife conservation among participants and organizers at turtle races. We've also crafted guidelines for turtle organizers and participants, fostering a noticeable shift towards more responsible practices. These efforts have dramatically reduced the abandonment rate of turtles and sparked interest in conservation among the younger generations.

In the coming months, we will be attending turtle races across the country. We are excited about one specific race in Kansas! The organizer of the race reached out to us and the Hutchinson Park Zoo with concerns about how the local race was done and wanted to improve the conditions for the turtles. We will all be working together combining education and data collection to accomplish this.

Your donation will fund our travel expenses, education table set up (each set up costs about $350). We have already received a grant from Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife to cover approximately 10 tables. But we want to set up tables in other states, like Missouri and Oklahoma.
