About Clear Blue Sea

Clear Blue Sea's mission is to cleanse the oceans of plastic pollution due to its damage to marine life, marine environments, and marine economies. Our innovation is an unmanned, solar-powered marine robot we have named Floating Robot for Eliminating Debris (FRED). Our marine robot is designed to both prevent and remediate the damaging plastics in marine environments. Our vision for global ocean plastic cleanup is to have fleets of FREDs working in rivers, bays, coasts, and ultimately the ocean gyres. Our organizational strategy is to mentor younger generations on STEAM projects to design and build FRED. We collaborate with San Diego research scientists and engineers to gain multiple perspectives for our student projects and strengthen our community outreach.
