Wayne Otto is fundraising
HMS Pinafore! Chocolate Church!
Bring G&S back to the Chocolate Church! For years, Gilbert and Sullivan operettas were produced annually at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, Maine by the Brunswick Choral Society.
The driving force of that group was Priscilla Montgomery, who also taught theater arts at Morse High School and directed their annual talent show, MOHIBA. Following her death in 1994, Priscilla's dream ended: Gilbert and Sullivan at the Chocolate Church and the Brunswick Choral Society died with her.
Twenty years later, Wayne Otto, an actor and director who worked with Priscilla on many shows decided to resurrect her dream: Gilbert and Sullivan at the Chocolate Church!
Since last year, Wayne has put together the beginnings of the first show: a troupe of actors and theater experts to produce HMS Pinafore. The troupe has CCAC on board with show dates: Sept. 11-13 and 18-20; they have rehearsal space at both the Chocolate Church and donated space from Victory Church on Congress St.; they have assembled one of the finest community casts to trod the boards of the historic old building; they have contracted the services of the best musicians in the Midcoast; they have a breathtaking set design by John Willey; they have borrowed dozens of delightful costumes from Midcoast Youth Theater, but still must buy or make dozens more elegant Victorian Dresses and naval officers uniforms.
Now, it is time to make everything come together! Please help bring Priscilla's dream back! We have already raised half of the money necessary, but we need YOUR help now to raise the last $2000 to finish our set, buy costumes and pay this terrific orchestra! The show must go on!
