We are working urgently to buy CHiPS (Community Help in Park Slope, Inc.) a new fridge so they can continue to serve hot meals this holiday season.

Who is CHiPS?
CHiPS does incredible work in our community helping feed the hungry through their soup kitchen and shelter homeless young women & their infants.

What happened?
My husband, 4-year-old son and I were dropping off sandwiches at CHiPS on Monday, 12/28/20, when Sandy, one of the coordinators, let us know their fridge had broken down. (Due to COVID, they are no longer able to operate as a traditional soup kitchen but are running a program called the Pop-Up at CHiPS with takeaway meals, including hot food.) I followed up with Sandy to check on the repair and unfortunately the fridge is totally busted, and they do not currently have the funds to replace it. 

What's the latest?
Brother Tom Barton, Interim Executive Director at CHiPS, has ordered a commercial grade fridge to replace the broken one. It will cost them an unexpected $7,964.

How much more do we need?
So far, we have raised $1,943.80 from fundraising on Facebook / Venmo, plus we've received a very generous donation of $1500. So we'll need $4520.20 more to cover the cost of the refrigerator.

How will your donation be used? 
Brother Tom, Sandy and Maria at CHiPS will immediately use the funds raised through this campaign to pay for the new fridge for the soup kitchen. Any additional money will go directly to CHiPS to provide our neighbors in need with more than 100,000 meals annually and to shelter and counsel homeless young mothers and their infants: http://chipsonline.org/donate/.

The time is now!!!  Let’s make a difference and help people in need!!!  I’m running the Brooklyn Half Marathon  this Saturday May 18th all the while I am FASTING for Ramadan.   I grew up in the Prospect  Park area and run the park frequently.   There are so many homeless around the park.   Since I’m fasting and can’t eat during normal hours it makes me think of people who don’t know when or where their next meal will come or come from.   This is why I choose to raise money to donate to  CHIPS | Park Slope Christian Help, Inc., and any donation, denomination will help make an impact!!!  I’m asking everyone to at least donate $20!!!  Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.   PEACE,  GOD BLESS & ONE LOVE
