SUPERHEROES NEEDED: iRecord Funding
CALLING ALL SUPERHEROES!
The Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Illinois needs you to be a superhero for children. The CAC recently added a second interview location in Effingham to provide coverage for three additional counties. This made it necessary to purchase a second recording system which cost $15,000! While absolutely necessary to completing the work of the CAC, the expense is a large one and we know our community will come together to assist us in paying for the system.
No one wants to think about a child experiencing abuse and needing to be interviewed, but the reality is the CAC interviews close to 400 children annually. These children are your neighbors. Their families are your friends and co-workers. Children are brought to our locations to be interviewed about all types of concerns, but much of it is very tough stuff- sexual abuse and severe physical abuse.
An important aspect of child forensic interviews is capturing the interview in a recorded format. The CAC relies on a digital system called iRecord to capture visual and audio information from each child forensic interview that is conducted by the team. This recording of the interview becomes part of the evidence of each investigation. This equipment is critical to the Center's work, and the system is very expensive.
The Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Illinois believes that the investigative process should not add to the pain a child has already suffered through abuse itself. The CAC gives children a safe and caring place for specialized interviews. Our team works together to make a plan that best meets the needs of the children and families who come to our centers.
