Supporting CoE Happy Kids Togo summer camp
Hi, I'm Stamoulis Manginas, and I'm reaching out to you on behalf of Children of the Earth Inc.
We have been supporting Happy Kids, a Togolese association run by a man named Ayite Ayivi. Since 2021 he has reached more than three thousand children — orphans, children from the street, children no one else counts. He does it on about $100 a month, with no salary and no office. What he lacks has never decided what he attempts.
This August, Happy Kids holds its third International Children's Camp. Six days, two towns — Lomé on the coast, Kpalimé in the hills, three days in each. Two hundred children to begin with, from across the country. If we raise more, more children come.
For most of them, the camp is the safest week of the year. Three meals a day. A bed, or a host family. Adults who do not raise a hand. Art, music, football, and a circle where a child is heard.
The numbers are small and exact. Two camps of 100 children each for 3 days cost about $13.5 per child — meals, a place to sleep, a t-shirt, art materials, a nurse on site. Our goal of $2,700 covers two hundred children. Anything beyond it brings more through the gate, and there is no shortage of children waiting at the gate.
Children of the Earth Inc., a UN-associated US 501(c)(3), receives every donation and forwards it to Ayite for Happy Kids. US donations are tax-deductible.
