Funds for Burke
An important CAPS’ team member is in need of support – our CASA facility dog, Burke. The six-year-old trained canine became ill a few months ago. After several trips to a local vet and recent visit to Purdue Veterinary Hospital, Burke has a mass of non-cancerous tissue on his backside that requires surgery. His prognosis is good, though. The mass of tissue is not attached to any organs or muscle, so a full recovery is expected.
Please consider making a donation if you are able to support Burke’s cost of surgery. He has to transition to different medication before surgery, so the exact date of surgery is unknown but likely sometime in early September.
Burke came to CAPS in October 2017. He spends time in court with children and helps to calm the atmosphere so they are more at ease when telling their traumatic stories. In his first year at CAPS, Burke was in court about 200 hours and was either requested or sat with 45 children. When not in court or at the office, Burke stays with CAPS employee Gina Hauptli. CAPS' mission is to ensure every child lives a life free of abuse and neglect. It is a registered non-profit agency.
Thank you for your donation and supporting Burke through this journey!
