All donations received will be directed to CRF C.A.R.E.S in honor and memory of CRF athletes Becca Herbig ('19), Garrett Brodersen ('21), and Jack Newhall ('20). Forever in our hearts, as one.

C.A.R.E.S. is the new well-being initiative which stands for Coxswain And Rower Empowerment Support. Our goal is to holistically care for our athletes, coaches, and families throughout the entirety of their time here and give them the tools to be successful beyond the boat. We wish to pursue a positive climate where every athlete matters, there is a commitment to care, and a culture of fostering growth of the whole person.

Funding will allow us to intentionally support the physical, emotional, mental and social needs of our athletes through club initiated activities and strategic partnerships. Immediate needs include:

- BikeErgs and injury prevention tools
- Memorial Garden/Bench at Clark Park
- Professional services including ongoing mental health and grief counselors
- Team bonding activities to promote healing in our club

All donations received will be thoughtfully directed to remember Jack with the support of the Newhall family.

It is impossible to express words that fully describe this one-in-a-million human. If you were fortunate enough to know Jack you would never forget him. He excelled as a scholar, athlete, teammate and most importantly will be remembered as a great friend. He was a selfless young man who lifted those around him by simply being his true self. There was nothing that Jack couldn’t do and this example empowered the people around him. 

Jack expressed on numerous occasions how much he wanted the Varsity Boys to have new boats. The Jack Newhall Memorial Boat Fund will allow the purchase of a new 8+. This boat will be named in Jack's memory and allow his energy, enthusiasm and friendship to be part of a winning Chicago Rowing Foundation Varsity Boys team. Forever in our hearts, as one.
