Help Us Make a Difference
As a Support Worker at Achieve Together, my role is all about helping people build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.
Every day, an army of incredible caring colleagues across the UK support individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs to step outside their comfort zones and achieve things they never thought possible!
So as always, we like to do something special when the opportunity arises to promote independence.
Together, we’re taking on a 5K run to raise money for Chester Pride, a charity that works tirelessly to support and uplift the LGBTQ+ community, promote inclusion, and challenge discrimination.
What makes this even more meaningful is that one of the incredible individuals I support has asked me to take part in this challenge with me. And within my job role, how could I say no?
This is a huge step for him. Being deaf and having learning difficulties, large events and busy environments can feel overwhelming, but he’s choosing to face that fear, to be part of something bigger, and to stand proudly within a community that celebrates inclusion and to get fit. He loves to go to the gym and swim regularly.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be training side by side. Every step we take is not just towards the finish line, but towards greater confidence, independence, and belonging.
This isn’t just about a run.
It’s about courage.
It’s about inclusion.
It’s about showing that everyone deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
