WE DID IT! Thanks to the Rural Maryland Council and 67 individual donors we were able to purchase this beauty this past weekend! THANK YOU!! Now, instead of directing any regular operating funds towards this big purchase, they can go towards the outdoor experiences and programs enjoyed by thousands and thousands each year!

The story:

Pickering Creek Audubon Center's beloved 2000 GMC Sierra, has hauled topsoil, mulch and plants to hundreds of student habitat projects at schools, moved picnic tables and equipment around the Center, visited the Easton recycling area and MidShore Regional Landfill countless times and so much more! To this day, it hauls our big red camp wagon back and forth on the Pickering farm lane propelled by the joyous songs of howling and sweaty summer campers! Though it has served us well for the last 25 years, IT IS TIME for it to begin passing the load to a new truck. Our current truck has over 150,000 miles, increasing body rust on the cab (covered over by auto tape), and needs repairs more frequently than our busy schedule of actually needing to use the truck allows.

We've received a wonderful grant from the Rural Maryland Council for $17,700 to assist with the purchase of a used pickup truck for the Center, and after a year of searching, we have identified a 2021 Ford F150 that checks all the boxes for what we need.

HOWEVER, it costs $27,760 out the door, we are hoping you can help us raise the rest of the funds THIS WEEK so we can get this truck while it is still available. Your help today of ANY size will allow us to direct our regularly raised funds towards our environmental education programming for Talbot, Dorchester, Caroline and Wicomico Counties.
