Running for a Cause
Dear Friends and Family,
We have been dedicating our weekend mornings to training for the Oakland Running Festival on March 23rd. For each of us, this race is a huge milestone and will be the culmination of four months of hard work. Some of us are running a Half Marathon, some a 5K and some a Marathon Relay.
We are running this race to create awareness of and raise money for an organization that is deeply important to us. The Charlotte Maxwell Clinic provides free alternative medical treatment to low income women with cancer in Oakland.
One of our team members, Sasha, writes about her experience receiving services from the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic:
As a young, underinsured person with cancer, I went through many treatments with potentially lasting side-effects. A major one affecting my daily life was neuropathy, causing pain in my hands and feet. That's when the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic stepped in and offered me services I would otherwise not have been able to afford. The day after a body work treatment, I woke up feeling great, and was able to continue the healing process through more treatment! I am now 5 years cancer and pain free!
Your donation will help women with cancer access services that are rarely covered under health care plans.
