Hi Everyone, it's Blake!
I wanted to share my story as to why I feel so excited about supporting the organization Chances for Children (C4C). I hope you will be inspired too. I hold this organization close to my heart, as my brother Caleb was born in Kenscoff, Haiti and Chances for Children brought Caleb into my life. Chances for Children provides shelter, education, healthcare, feeding programs, but most importantly it provides children of Haiti with their forever families. We are extremely grateful that Chances for Children brought us together.
I combined my love of basketball and sports, with my compassion for Haiti, and this is how hitops4haiti came about. The mission is simple; collect new and slightly used athletic shoes and send them to the children of Haiti. These shoes will then get distributed by C4C volunteers to the children. Last year was our 3nd Annual Event and with everyones help, we collected 500 pairs. Caleb and I went door to door receiving donations in Phoenix and Scottsdale and also asked friends to help in their neighborhoods as well. I even received donated shoes from all over the country. Every pair donated was then tagged with a special personalized message of hope and inspiration. Now kicking off our 4th Annual Event, we set our sights high ... hitops4haiti high!
