The Chance 2 Dance Foundation is hosting its First Annual Showcase Performance at the Orlando Repertory Theatre in downtown Orlando, FL on Sunday June 4, 2017. The Foundation is putting on this event to give a performance opportunity to the Central Florida special needs community. This event is completely FREE to all dance participants and their families to attend, it is our goal not only to provide a genuine theatre performance opportunity for this community, but also bring awareness to the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of dance classes for a person who has any special needs or disability.

Chance 2 Dance Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit organization that provides unique and specialized dance classes to children, youth, and adults who have special needs. Since Chance 2 Dance’s inception at the beginning of 2016, we have grown from 4 children with Autism in our first month of active community involvement, to over 500 individuals with special needs receiving weekly dance classes in over 12 locations actors Central Florida. The population types we are currently working with include: Autism Spectrum, Down Syndrome, C.P, Behavioral/ Emotional Disorders, and ADD/ ADHD.
Below is a list of our current local partner organizations Chance 2 Dance provides classes to:
-Orange County: Princeton House Charter School, Quest Kids Academy, Quest Inc, UCP of Central Florida Bailes Campus, OCA, Joyful Music Therapy, Chance 2 Dance Studio
-Seminole County: Inspire/SWOP, UCP of Central Florida Lake Mary Campus, City of Altamonte Winter and Summer Club House
-Volusia: Florida Autism Center- Daytona Campus
-Brevard: Alpha Academy, Brevard Cultural Alliance, Very Special Arts
The Showcase Performance will be used to meet the needs of Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Orange county by being an openly inclusive organization that focuses on creating and encouraging a community of acceptance; embracing the differences that make us all unique, bridging the gap between the special needs and mainstream populations. We are anticipating about 250 of our dancers to participate in this showcase event. By donating to the Chance 2 Dance Showcase Performance, you are not only impacting a minimum of 250 children, youth, and adults with Autism, Down Syndrome, Motor- Development Delays, C.P., Behavioral/ Emotional Disorders, and ADD/ ADHD, but your donation would also impact the families, friends, and supporters of our dance participants. We are an organization that focuses on the physical, social, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and artistic benefits of dance. In an effort to enhance their quality of life, we strive to provide artistic- enrichment activities of dance and theatre that otherwise may not be available to the special needs populations Our goal is to give these dancers a sense of normalcy, to make them feel included and accepted- no matter the differences between us; we still all have a beating heart. Dance is an emotional, creative, and artistic outlet that taps into the minds and bodies and in a way is a therapeutic experience to help maintain or progress their physical abilities and contribute to their mind to body connection.

Getting up and moving is critical contributor to a persons mental and physical development. The special needs segment of the population has extremely limited opportunities for enrichment activities like dancing. All Chance 2 Dance instructors are professional dancers who receive their Inclusion and Special Needs certification through the Childcare Education Institute. This helps our instructor’s assist and accommodate instruction to better meet the needs of the dance participants.
The families impacted by having a dependent with special needs tend to experience a shift in financial responsibilities. The cost of raising a child with special needs is significantly higher than that of a typical developing child. There are external care and living costs that include: multiple weekly and monthly therapy sessions, communication and assistive devices, home modifications, school enrollment, doctor visits and medications, as well as career and family specialists. These external costs are necessary to provide and sustain an appropriate quality of life for these individuals. Thus, my goal for any sponsorship money is to be able to provide a theatre performance FREE to all participants and their families to attend.

All donations will solely go to providing our dancers with a genuine theater- performance experience at no cost to the dancer or family. Below is an estimated cost break down for an expected minimum of 250 children, youth, and adult dance participants who will be performing at the Showcase Performance event in June.
Below is a breakdown of the estimated cost of the showcase performance and how the funds will be used:
-Orlando Repertory Theater Rental: $1,100.00
-Identification Lanyard per Dancer: $582.50
-'Costumes' T-shirts for each participant: $1,842.00
-'Take a Bow' Participation Gift Bags: $1,491.32
TOTAL: 5,015.82
Our goal is to be able to first raise enough money for the theater venue. I have already put down a deposit of my own money to be able to provide this stage experience to our dance participants. Next I would like to be able to provide each of our special performers a Performance T-shirt. The majority of dance performances have costumes; I want our dancers to feel like they are unified, a part of a group when they are on stage. If I am not able to order our performers shirts, they will be wearing their street clothes during their moment to shine on stage. Due to a lot of our dancers having sensory issues, we can not use the typical costumes seen on stage, but the shirts will in the least allow a 'group-like' feel. The Identification lanyards will be used as a 'crowd control/ safety measure'. Upon each dancer checking in at the theater to perform, they will receive a color-coded lanyard. This lanyard will identify the dancer, what school and group they are with, who their guardians/caretakers are etc. The Take a Bow gift bag I plan to be a special thing to give to our dancers as they leave the theater. I would like to have personalized gift bags made for our performers with an inspirational gift inside, a Congratulatory Certificate of a Dance Performer, some extra special treats. The gift bags and lanyards I feel I can find other means to substitute for should we not raise enough money.
Thank you for your consideration to donate to our First Annual Showcase Performance!
Dancingly Yours,
Nicole Warren
