Help Ironstone Farm build a farmhouse retreat center for veterans who need us!
22 combat veterans are committing suicide in this country every day! 22! Why? Because the Post Traumatic Stress they live with after their service isn’t being addressed. And if it is, too often the slightest trigger can still evoke the negative response that causes end of life actions. No warning, no apparent reason. So tragic!
When asked, many vets and the professionals that work with them say that even when they get help it ends, but the underlying issues remain. Many talk about the need for ongoing community – a place to belong that will last well beyond formal intervention.

Ironstone Farm provides such community. Often called an “oasis” in a crazy world, Ironstone’s doors are opened to a new way of life for veterans and others suffering with debilitating conditions – one that provides peace, well-being - and mission. The opportunity is there for all vets who participate in the programs to stay involved and become part of this special community - as contributors! WE NEED THEM! For the past six years Ironstone has offered vets opportunities to become fully immersed into a place that uses a farm and its horses to provide healing for children with disabilities, adults with memory issues, teens with peer pressures, and more! Veterans suffering Post Traumatic Stress, anxiety and depression have found solace and meaning in their time here. But it isn’t enough …
We can do so much more! And we want to … but we need your help! Six years ago we started the program helping vets. We quickly saw the need, and almost as quickly saw the positive influence of our horses. Three years ago, we determined that we would go the route to use the farm to change their lives so that it will last, and so it will lower those statistics! We started raising money to renovate our Farmhouse to become a Retreat Center for Veterans. It took two years to raise $200,000 and one year to get permits. But with the permits came the harsh reality that this is a $600,000 project!
