2022 CHA Dog Jog
Join Sarah and I in raising money for the 2022 CHA Dog Jog. We are dedicating this year's race to Lucy and Arnold. Two wonderful dogs that were lost last year.

The first time I met Arnold was during a watching party for the 2008 Ohio State vs. Michigan game... he was super cute and ended up eating my shoe laces when I wasn't looking.

Lucy was a beautiful golden who volunteered as a therapy dog at the Ronald McDonald House and was a wonderful companion to her parents Amy and Steve.

Sarah and I will be matching all donations in honor of the great work that CHA does and in honor of Arnold and Lucy.

Patty Hoyer’s 2022 Dog Jog Fundraiser for CHA
This year I am dedicating my run to Abbey a beautiful Border Collie (Yes DNA revealed she is 100% Border Collie) I rescued from a rural shelter in Kentucky in 2014. She was known as #9 female. Abbey was adopted by a friend of mine and she is living a wonderful, spoiled life in Columbus, Ohio. Although Abbey didn’t go through CHA Animal Shelter, CHA takes in many dogs like Abbey from rural shelters, providing vet care and temporary housing until they are adopted through CHA’s adoption process.

Frequently, the dogs CHA pulls from the rural shelters need additional veterinary care, beyond what our adoption fee covers. I continue to be committed to raising the money needed to support the increase in the number of dogs and cats the shelter can accept from the rural shelters.

Most of the rural shelters that CHA has partnered with have no operating budget, no formalized adoption programs, limited food, and a very limited support staff in place to care for these animals. The only hope these animals have is to be rescued by another organization such as CHA. Unfortunately, without additional funds CHA cannot continue to rescue animals from the rural shelters.

Today I am asking for your help in making me the number one fundraiser for the tenth year in a row, which will help CHA Animal shelter continue to help homeless dogs from rural shelters. No donation is too small!

2021 Dog Jog 5K and Fun Run
Make a difference to the animals in your community by joining us at Dog Jog 2021, an annual fundraising event supporting CHA Animal Shelter. We hope that you will join us in celebrating the 31st year of our 5K and Fun Run! Visit RunSignUp for more information.

Choose between a 5K Run/Walk or a 1-Mile Run/Walk and enjoy a fun-filled morning of exercise with your ENTIRE family, including your dog! Visit a wide variety of wonderful pet-friendly vendors, celebrate and learn more about event sponsors, and participate in a wide variety of other activities after the race. Adoptable dogs will also be in attendance.

You don't have to run or walk or attend the event to make a difference at our shelter. Please consider making an individual donation to CHA's Dog Jog Fundraising Campaign or creating your own fundraising page in support of CHA by selecting the "Fundraiser Sign-Up" button.

Fundraising for CHA's Long-term Residents

Yes? Excellent! Because I'm fundraising for CHA's 31st Annual Dog Jog, on behalf of the homeless cats and dogs that CHA Animal Shelter cares for until they find their forever families. At CHA, we strive to match people with pets, and nothing makes volunteers like me happier than when one of our long-term resident animals (such as Goose the hound dog and Henry the black lab mix; see below photo gallery ) finds a great match.

This year, I am fundraising for all of our animals who require long-term residency, whether it be for health issues (during my 6 years as a volunteer, CHA has treated heartworm-positive dogs; geriatric cats with special dietary needs, over- and underweight dogs and cats in need of special diets to help them recover; cats and dogs with orthopedic complications requiring surgery), training needs, or other considerations requiring a particular home environment for the adoptable cat or dog. Long-term residents often require additional costs for specialized care--which is a burden for a non-profit like CHA.
