October is National Lewy Body Dementia Awareness Month! Help Central Florida Lewy Body, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, continue to support families and educate professionals.

Central Florida Lewy Body is in a financial crisis, and we need your help! We provide essential support, education, and resources to hundreds of families affected by Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) and collaborate with healthcare professionals across the country to foster early diagnosis and effective treatment. Our work is vital for those navigating the challenges of LBD, including both those with LBD and their care partners. With your help, we will be able to sustain our services through 2025.

Our Story: Central Florida Lewy Body began with a simple conversation between Orvis "Rig" Rigsby and Sue Bouder, our executive director, on his back porch in 2016. Rig wished for a support group specifically for those affected by Lewy Body Dementia. That wish became a reality when we launched a unique monthly support group, welcoming both individuals diagnosed with LBD and their care partners. Our approach was groundbreaking at the time, setting the foundation for the exponential growth we see today.

During the isolation of the 2020 pandemic, we expanded from a single in-person meeting to SIX virtual support meetings per month, blending support, education, and creative engagement. Through the power of Zoom, our community now extends far beyond Central Florida, reaching families and professionals nationwide. We now also host two in-person support groups in Central Florida

We rely on donations to continue providing these critical services and to expand our reach to even more families.
