CareLink Meals on Wheels Truck
CareLink's Meals on Wheels program needs to purchase a freezer truck ASAP as the amount to repair our current vehicle is currently costing us $1,000 per week. Our freezer truck delivers frozen meals to those seniors who live too far from our Meals on Wheels kitchen in North Little Rock to receive hot meals at the appropriate temperature. The cost of a replacement freezer truck is $45,000.
Donations from the public go directly toward the meal program and directly affect the amount of seniors we can serve. All donations received for the truck will go directly towards the $45,000 purchase cost.
As 10,000 people are turning 65 each day in America, Meals on Wheels is facing serious funding shortfalls. CareLink has already had to make cuts to our weekend meals and is facing the threat of having to start a waiting list to receive meals. The cost of a new freezer truck will directly impact the number of meals we are able to serve to those who desperately need them, as Arkansas ranks worst in the nation for senior hunger.
