I’m running the hackney half marathon in May in his honour and will be doing a fundraiser to donate to the shelter I adopted him from (Celia Hammond)

it’s my birthday in March so donate instead of getting me anything if you can

stevie was a feral cat outside of a colony an when he was 3 months old a pallet fell on him and crushed him. The Celia Hammond team found him and saved him, I adopted him when he was around 1 year old. He was very reactive and wouldn’t let anyone near him or touch him. Over the time I’ve had him he came out of his shell and became the funny/sassy/diva boy I fell in love with.

With the heaviest of hearts I had to say goodbye to my sweet angel boy Stevie

He went peacefully wrapped in his favourite blanket, eating his favourite snack (lick e lix), being stroked on his head (fave spot) while I sang this song to him.

I’m beyond devastated but I know he’s in a better place now, running around in heaven with my childhood cats deedees and zeek, being looked after by my grandma Helen and grandma May.

Stevie overcame so much in his short life and unfortunately due to an unknown medical issue there wasn’t anything I/his vet could do.

He was such an amazing, sassy, feisty cat and I’m so honoured to of been part of his journey and of been able to give him to best and most spoiled life a cat could get.

I love him so much and will continue to love him for the rest of my life.

We are asking for donations to support the amazing charity, Celia Hammond Animal Trust, who have helped us and countless others in so many ways.

They’ve been there when we needed them most — from helping us with a catch, neuter, and release of a local stray in Wapping, to assisting with a lifeless kitten handed to us on the street, giving it the best chance possible. And these are just two of the many times they’ve stepped in to help.

Right now, Celia Hammond is inundated with cats. With fewer adoptions happening, more and more animals are still awaiting forever homes. But it’s not just cats — this incredible charity also helps dogs, giving them the same dedication and compassion. On top of that, they run an amazing veterinary surgery on site, ensuring animals receive the best possible medical care.

This charity never turns their back on animals in need, and now it’s our turn to give back to them. Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward food, medical care, and shelter for the cats, dogs, and kittens they tirelessly look after.

On August 3rd, I’ll be taking on the 10-hour trek up the mighty Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain — not just for the challenge, but for a cause close to my heart.

I’m doing this in support of the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, a charity that works tirelessly to rescue, treat, and rehome cats in desperate situations. Whether it’s strays, injured cats, or those simply forgotten, Celia Hammond and her team step in with compassion and care.

This climb is my way of shining a light on their incredible work. Every step I take is for the cats who can’t ask for help, but need it all the same.

Celia Hammond Animal Trust (CHAT) is a unique animal welfare charity dedicated to the rescue and homing of cats & kittens in parts of Kent, Sussex and London.

They provide low cost neutering and veterinary treatment in their two London clinics, and also have an animal sanctuary in East Sussex.

Chips was dumped outside the Celia Hammond Animal Trust Canning Town Centre, smothered in what we suspect to be restaurant waste oil, placed in a black bin bag and taped shut inside the dirtiest cat basket we may have ever seen. 

 

He was admitted by our emergency veterinary team who immediately got to work attempting to remove the oil from his skin and fur. 

 

UPDATE: Chips remains under veterinary assessment due to irritation of his skin. He has hair loss in areas around his neck where there are painful looking patches. We are still determining if the irritation of his skin is a reaction to the oil or if there is another reason. Though he’s received numerous baths, the discoloration has proven difficult to remove and his fur remains looking dirty and stained

 

We are hoping he will make a full recovery and will be available for adoption soon. 

 

Our charity is struggling at the moment as we are overwhelmed with requests to take in unwanted, abandoned and stray cats and kittens. We have run out of space. Every animal charity is facing a challenge due to the nationwide shortage of vets due to Brexit.

 

We have always tried to be here for you when you and your animals need us, now we need your help more than ever.
