Please help me as I raise money/support for Community Cares of Carlisle, PA. Community Cares supports those without a home by providing shelter when available, but if space is not available they also have a street outreach team to provide items for support, such as blankets, gloves, warm clothing, and etc. As one who used to be homeless 9 years ago and am now on the other side of things, I understand the need for support, not only for those being helped, but also for those doing the help. Nobody ever asks to be in a less fortunate position, sometimes life just is. And from experience I know that even if a person can’t help me by fixing my situation, it means the world for someone to sacrifice just a little to provide some kind of relief.

So I am raising money for this wonderful organization that doesn’t get enough praise or recognition. My monetary goal is $5000 which is $50 per mile. I am obviously not asking just one person to donate, although I am also not saying no to that… But, this goal can be easily obtained. Say 300 people saw this post. If 100 people donated $50, I would obtain my goal. If all 300 people donated about $17, I would achieve my goal. If $1000 people donated $5, okay you get it. My point is that I am just asking you to spare what you can. It can be a little or a lot, whatever is on your heart to give. I also ask you to share this post wherever you can, you can even screenshot it and send it to friends/family.

In addition to my monetary goal, I am also asking for the giving of items to the shelter to support the housing as well as the street outreach. There is a list on their website for items that they need. If you click on the link below, it will take you to the Community Cares page. At the top right hand corner is the Shelter Needs List link. Click on that for items that are needed as well as drop off information and address. Although the link currently says Fall/Winter, I have been informed that the needs are pretty much the same. Currently, the greatest needs are:

-Sugar

-Creamer

-Coffee

-Snack/Sandwich Bags

-13 gallon and 44 gallon trash bags

-Pine Sol

-Baby wipes/Diapers for the family shelter

Be a "DRIVE"ing force for CARES
In March, Carlisle C.A.R.E.S. lost our means of transportation for over 60 people. The bus that we utilized to transport residents to the evening shelters was unable to pass state inspection. This left our organization that provided transportation for those facing homelessness with its own lack of transportation. We now face the major expense of acquiring a "new" bus. This was an unplanned and unexpected situation for our already limited budget to handle.

On a daily basis, many of us take shelter and transportation for granted. Our organization is vital to individuals and families of all ages and cultural background who are without shelter, struggling to gain stability in their lives. Unfortunately, the reality is that many of the residents of Carlisle C.A.R.E.S. rely on the organization to build stability and renewed independence in their lives. Transportation is often a big part of that stability.

We are proud of the work that we are able to provide for the community and for our residents here at Carlisle C.A.R.E.S. We ask for your support so we can continue to impact as many lives as possible.
