Help Us Reach More Nursing Home Residents
I started Caring by Card after visiting my mother, Shaunna, in nursing homes after she developed early onset Alzheimer's Disease. During my visits, I saw many elderly, sick, and disabled residents sitting alone, with very little human interaction. Many seemed lonely, unseen, and forgotten. My heart ached and Caring by Card was born.
Since then, Caring by Card has helped get 30,000 handwritten cards to residents in 280 nursing homes in every state in the U.S. Our corps of volunteers includes Girl Scouts, schools, and everyday Americans who want to connect across generations. We also coordinate with major corporations to organize card-making events.
Maria Shriver wrote about our work in The Sunday Paper, describing us as ”a beautiful movement that invites people to create and send handmade cards to people living in nursing homes to remind them they are seen, loved, and remembered.”
You can help support our mission to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. Every donation helps us coordinate card making and delivery to more nursing homes.
Even the smallest gift will help.
With gratitude,
Rachel Bennett, Founder, Caring by Card
