Hi! My name is Mia Carsecka and I am a sophomore at Franklin Regional High School. I am the president and founder of our school's club, Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery (NDRR). As you may have heard, Hurricane Melissa has struck the Caribbean, leaving millions of destroyed homes, flooded streets, and families trying to rebuild their lives. They have limited access to food, clean water, and power.

Right now, our goal is to raise funds to support these victims of Hurricane Melissa who need instant relief. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help bring hope to these families and provide them with resources that are necessary for their recovery. Together, we can help them rebuild, recover, and restore their hope. Please consider donating anything you can today, and tell family and friends about this fundraiser. We, at Burma Superstar San Francisco, are raising funds for the people of Myanmar affected by the devastating 7.7 earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025.

In Burmese, there is a saying, Puu Paung Ku Nyi Kya So. It means to help together. It is in this spirit that we ask our customers to join us in support of the people of Burma and in solidarity with those on the front lines assisting in this time of need.

100% of donations are tax deductible, and will be donated to CARE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization: EIN: 13-1685039, in support of Earthquake Victims in Myanmar.

We are a group of high school students from Williamsburg, VA raising money to address food insecurity globally by supporting CARE International, a global non-profit charity.

For every $80 donated, we will all bike one mile together to show our dedication to the issue of hunger, and all donations will be sent directly to CARE International Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Our goal is $2,000 with 25 miles biked total, and every donation to this organization matters. Please pledge to our humanitarian cause today and help lessen the pain of food insecurity worldwide.

I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1989 and immigrated to the USA two years later. I have never been back despite wanting to many times. The war in Ukraine has been brutal to stomach for me, my family and my friends that also immigrated from the USSR. I'm happy that my family, including my wife and daughter, are safe; however, also torn because it is incredible what President Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian population are doing fighting against Putin, so I feel guilty for being safe. This is one of the ways I believe I can spread love by doing what I love, running in the woods for a good cause.

No one deserves to be caught up in a war, especially the unjust one raging in Ukraine.  This is not David vs Goliath as has become a popular title but GOOD vs evil.

 

As many know, my wife and her family are from Ukraine and have many friends and family still there.  I have visited and was welcomed as a brother, son, grandson many times over.  The generosity was overwhelming.

 

Ukraine is a beautiful country full of amazing culture, architecture, food and mostly people.  These people need our help.

 

The charity I have chosen is CARE which is focused on delivering water, food and hygiene kits to those most in need.  They do wonderful work all over the world and currently have a Ukraine Crisis Fund set up.  If you have something else in mind there are numerous great charities set up to help immediately.
