Beechwood's Eight Grade Class Goes to DC!
Want to join me in making a difference?
The California Family Foundation operates Beechwood School, a thriving independent non-profit school of 170 students in Kindergarten Prep through eighth grade. Beechwood serves over 125 families from East Palo Alto and the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park.
Beechwood's program incorporates small classes, location in the community, a committed staff and active parent participation.
Beechwood makes a difference in the education and future of children who would not otherwise have this opportunity.
This year, the Eight Grade class is embarking on a journey that has not happened in well over 2 decades! We are going to DC! Help support us in making this trip happen!
In the words of our 8th grade students:
"Personally, I have never been to DC. I have never seen the White House or the Capitol building of the United States of America. This will be something that I will remember forever because not many schools get the chance to go and see the capital." - Joshua
"This DC trip means a lot to me and my classmates because some of us have never been to another state in the United States and a lot of us have never even gone out of California. This experience will change my life because me and my classmates will have an experience of a lifetime to another place in the U.S and some of us in our lifetime will never be able in the future to go to such a wonderful place. Another reason is that this will be one of the very few times in our school that a class has gone to the East Coast." - Gael
"I’m an eighth grade student who hasn’t been to Washington D.C. I’ve never been there since it’s too expensive and we can’t afford to go there. I really want to go there since we would be able to see the White House and learn about our government. If we go to Washington D.C my class will be the first ever to go to Washington D.C." - Noah
"We are fundraising for this trip because we financially can’t afford it and hopefully this fundraiser helps us achieve our goal. In addition, this class has been together for 9 years plus and we want one more year where we experience something new before we head off to high school." - Andrew
"The 8th grade trip is going to be very special for my family and me, the reason is special for my family because I’m going to be the first person in my family that will go out of California. It’s special to me because this is going to be my first time I go on an airplane." - Santiago
