Every day, without warning, people lose access to the very land under their feet.
Without a legal land title, farmers who have toiled on the land for generations lose their livelihoods when a road is built without their consent. A widow's in-laws force her out of her home when her husband dies. Illegal miners or loggers– stealing resources and polluting the earth– take over an Indigenous community’s territory.
And people without land are without a means of survival.
For over a decade, Cadasta Foundation has worked to change this reality of land grabs and evictions through direct support to partners and communities. We provide critical resources, technology, and services that help communities gain legal land titles. But recent stop-work orders from the United States government have stopped this work in its tracks and jeopardized our ongoing operations.
The impact is immediate and severe. Without legal titles, smallholders lose their farms, women are displaced, and entire communities are destabilized.
