Help Build Buffalo Elementary's Inclusive Playground
Buffalo Elementary School (Sarver, PA) needs a new playground! We are working to replace the 25-year-old playground with one that is inclusive for children of all abilities.
The current playground has served us well but is nearing the end of its safe life and the play area is often too muddy to use. It also does not include any inclusive play elements meaning that many of our students are unable to enjoy the playground.
Buffalo parents, teachers, administrators, and students agree that our kids need better outdoor play options to promote health and wellness, to make recess more fun, and to provide a safe community gathering space for kids after school.
PTO is actively applying for grants, but we need YOUR help to make a new playground a reality. Your donation will help us pay for:
• Playground Drainage and Surfacing
• ADA Swing Seats
• Communications Panel
• Sensory Elements
• Climbing and Slides Structures
Playgrounds are expensive! We estimate a new playground will cost at least $150,000. We've broken these costs down into a phased approach. Timing depends on how quickly we can raise the additional funds.
Phase I (~$4,000) (complete 2024)
- ADA Swing Seats
- New Belt Swing Seats
Phase II (~$42,000) (2025)
- Communication Panel
- Replace slides with ADA see-saw
- Drainage and Surfacing
Phase III (~$35,000)
- Replace smaller play structure
- Drainage and Surfacing
Phase IV (~$65,000)
- Replace larger play structure
- Drainage and Surfacing
This playground is used not just during school hours, but year-round by the entire community. Help us make our new playground a reality by making a tax-deductible donation here. The quicker we raise funds, the quicker our kids get the safe, inclusive playground they deserve! Thank you for your generous support!
Donations can also be made via check made payable to Buffalo Elementary School with the memo "playground" and sent to Buffalo Elementary School, 500 Sarver Road, Sarver, PA 16055. We also gladly accept matching donations from employer programs.
