Cactus to the Clouds:Charity BFTF
The Brotherhood for The Fallen-Chicago is a non-for-profit organization of the Chicago Police Department with Officers of various ranks, committed to attending the services of Officers Killed around the country by an offender and give support to the family of the fallen, their police department and community. Our attendance to these funeral services are at the cost to the Brotherhood for the Fallen membership. No members associated with the Brotherhood for the Fallen draw a salary. 100% of our members volunteer their time for travel and our expenses are paid through our fundraising efforts and through the generosity of our donors.
With 38 Officers killed by gunfire this year alone, these costs add up. This campaign is just another way for our membership to increase funds to ensure that no Officer's funeral goes unattended by our organization and that the monetary donation we give to the families of the fallen are substantial to offset their costs by the tragedy of losing a loved one.
This years fundraiser is a GO-FUND-ME campaign. The Brotherhood for the Fallen has six sworn police officers from the Chicago Police Department participating in The Cactus to the Clouds hike that takes Place in California. This event we hope will also raise awareness to the senseless murdering of Law Enforcement officers throughout the United States. To date, their have been 38 officers killed by offender by gunfire .
The Cactus of the Clouds is a Rugged 22-mile hiking trail that starts from the Palm Springs desert floor and ascends to the summit of San Jacinto at 10,804 feet. It has one of the greatest elevation increases among day-hike routes in the United States. The elevation gain happens in only 16 miles (26 km), also making it one of the steeper trails of its length in the world.
