BCM was founded in 1899 as the world’s first children’s museum and is New York City’s largest cultural institution designed especially for families. Located in 145,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space in Crown Heights, BCM houses a collection of over 30,000 objects of artistic, cultural, scientific, and historic importance, alongside a living collection of 80 live animals, 50 plants, and thousands of bugs.
 
The Museum serves approximately 300,000 children, caregivers, and educators annually.
