About Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition

As of March 29, 2023, Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (also known as BARC Shelter) is no longer active and can no longer accept donations. The deaths of both founders/owners forced the cessation of all operations. Mission Statement: The Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition, referred to as the BARC Shelter, was founded in 1987 to help homeless and unwanted animals until they can be adopted. As a private, no-kill shelter, BARC will keep the animal for as long as it takes for them to find a good home. All animals are spayed and neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before going to their new homes. The BARC Shelter has also responded to the desperate need for low-cost spay and neuter surgeries as well as vet care in our community.
